Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

  • Author: David Atikson
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 16 rods 1x

Description

A salty-sweet classic, these chocolate covered pretzel rods are fun to make, easy to customize, and absolutely addictive.

Ingredients

Scale

16 ounces pretzel rods

16 ounces chopped milk, semisweet, dark or white chocolate or candy melts

Sprinkles, mini M&M’s, coconut, toffee bits, chopped nuts, etc.`),

Instructions

Start by placing chopped chocolate or candy melts into clean, tall, heat-safe jars.

Carefully set the jars inside a crock pot, then pour hot water into the crock pot until it reaches about halfway up the sides of the jars. Important: Make sure no water gets inside the jars—chocolate and water don’t mix!

Turn the crock pot to high and leave it uncovered for about 30 minutes. Stir the chocolate occasionally until it’s fully smooth and melted.

Once melted, reduce the heat to low or warm to keep the chocolate silky.

Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Place it on a parchment-lined tray.

Before the chocolate sets, decorate with your favorite toppings—sprinkles, crushed candies, coconut, or chopped nuts.

Let the pretzels cool completely until the chocolate hardens, then store them in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

Use almond bark or candy melts for easier dipping.

Make in advance they keep well for up to 5 days.
