Ingredients

Scale

1 medium head green cabbage, chopped

1 lb ground beef

1 cup cooked white rice

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth)

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp thyme

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13″ baking dish.

Sauté onions and garlic in olive oil until translucent.

Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

Stir in tomato sauce, broth, and dried herbs. Simmer 5 minutes.

Add cooked rice, mix well, and season to taste.

Layer chopped cabbage and beef mixture in the dish. Repeat layers.

Cover with foil and bake 45–55 minutes until cabbage is tender.

Uncover and broil for 5 minutes if a browned top is desired.

Notes

Optional: Pre-soften cabbage by steaming for a few minutes before layering.

Add shredded cheese on top during last 10 minutes of baking for a melty finish.
